Hsiaowen Hsu is a Taiwanese filmmaker and a recent graduate of Columbia University’s School of the Arts, where she earned her MFA with a concentration in Directing.

Prior to her time in New York, she gained extensive experience working on numerous professional film sets in Taiwan, honing her skills in on-set production and the nuanced development of character and story. Her documentary film won the Labor Film Award in 2018, presented by the Taipei City Government, and was later featured as a lead-in promotional film for the award-winning historical TV series The Coming Through. Her short films have been broadcast on Taiwan Public Television Service (PTS) and nominated for the Golden Harvest Awards & Short Film Festival in Taiwan.

She focuses on telling delicate, hopeful stories through the eyes of women and children.
